Free Hosting Company Shuts Down ( Nrg.to )

Recommended Posts

I was a loyal user of Nrg.to. a site used to give free web hosting space with no ads and no features. I had a site hosted in nrg.to and worked very hard to improve my site and had done a lot of SEO and listed my site in the top 10 in all popular search engines. But now the nrg.to have sut down their service and deleted all my precious files and hardwork without giving a single notice. I will take reveng of them. If i get the admin of nrg.to then i'll surely completely erase his memories. Arrggh!!!!! i will not hestitate to hack into their servers and delete their complete site. I will surely take revenge. Another thing, I'll be starting an hosting account in Xisto, please admins here at Xisto, please consider howmuch hardwork we do to make websites and keep them goingon. Please inform us before ur going to delete all accounts. So that we can make backups of our hardwork . Please have mercy on us.....

Um..ok... nrg.to DO bum. It's a german site , so I never got it really.... I made my entire website - it was all finished and pretty and everything. Then suddenly their system when down and all the files were deleted... they didn't even say sorry or email me or anything. It had a post on their website somewhere saying you just got to re make everything... I was sooo freakin' gutted! This was about two years ago though.

It is not wise to hack into their server....and people talking of hacking don't usually know how to. Just leave them - they're bound to go down some day and I bet they have tons of complaints anyways... which they probably ignore...

Yeah and it's unlikely Xisto is going to do the same as nrg.to did seen as it's a lot larger and better and I think you know that..

Yea you just sort of have to move on because there really isn't anything you can do about it now. My previous host before they went out of business were nice enough to back up all my files and send them to me when I needed them after the site went down but I think hacking into them won't help you anymore. Besides it is sort of illegal and you could get in trouble with the law and we don't want that.

well of course another suggestion and all webmaster should take notice make daily copies of your site including msql dbs and all that other good stuuf so if a moron who can't keep the money flowing cuz hes not getting paid enough at Mcdonalds and decideds without notice to shut the site done you will at least have most of your site there to be put on another hosting service and begin again somewhat.but yeah I would edit that post about hacking a website cuz you don't know when it could happen and you had nothing to do about it except for the mer fact that you mentioned it.

I'd suggest that you purchase a domain name which is filthy cheap these days. And use it to point your domain to your web hosting server. This way, you should not lose your search engine ranking in any way.

well personally i think there is one big mistake there, not allready having a backup of your website files i personally do it like every day, pretty much every time i edit a file..but umm yeah that does suck! i would be probably as pissed if not more ad you are..but like opaque said, the domains these days are filthy cheap, so get one and keep ur spot :-p which it is true! 1 year for 2.99 on Yahoo's Hosting, i thought that was cool i shoulda got one at that time

Always... ALWAYS... !!!!ALWAYS!!!! back-up your work. You never want to get caught in a situation like that. When I run a website I have the copy on the webhost, a copy on my hard drive (that I update with the newer stuff), a copy burned to CD (which I dont update AS often) and a copy zipped up on a different webhost that I have. Back-ups are very important.

Also, the note about domain names that someone else posted.. VERY good idea. You can get one at godaddy.com for like $8-9 per year... not much. And then you never have to worry about losing your place on search engines or people updating their bookmarks so long as you keep the domain up... then it doesn't matter what your hosting is doing.

For some reason free web hosting companies shut down all the time because they do not make the profits they wanted, they take the money from ads for themselves, or can not find the money to run it. These are always the problems with free web hosts. You have to make sure to save a copy of your site to your computer in case this happens. Here at Xisto I have only lost MYsql files because someone messed up the whole server (not Xisto's fault in ANY way) but you can feel pretty safe here.
