Opening A Port Other Than Port 80 Need an open port not 80

I need to open up a port which is NOT port 80. It cannot be in use right now. The preferable port is 6667. Can this be done?

You can make it so that your server/service "listens" to the port 6667. Using port forwarding (either via software or hardware, i.e. router) you can then forward any incoming from port 6667 to your designated inbound port, i.e. 80--or even to another IP address.Just a side note...I travel frequently and sometimes I have bit of downtime during my travel in major airports. I noticed that some airports that require personal paid accounts to use wi-fi access within the airport, it will forward to private IP address that always asks for me to enter my account information. No matter which wireless access I connect to, it will automatically forward to one IP address that asks me to enter my account information. So I know port forwarding works.I'm also assuming that a simple line add in your config file for server running can manage this too. But since I am unsure hopefully one of our brilliant members would reply to this topic.

I don't know about port forwarding but this is on the Xisto server. I need to open port 6667 in my hosting account.If you want, you can try to figure out this little piece of code here:<param name="port" value="6667" />Apparently it cannot be port 80. People need to connect to this port to enter the java applet.
