Asp And Php In The Same Domain!

Recommended Posts

hi, everyone, i have more questions if you can please help me with them. my current free hosting is linux php, that means my pages in php now i buy a new domain but it not registered yet (as anyone follow my topics will know that). till now i didn't decided to add my domain as parked domain or add-on domain. i am now planning to build a new website but in asp.net and i want it related to my old website.so , i want to know if i can do that. i think i should buy a new hosting plan that supports asp.net but can i add it to the same domain ( mean can i put the two hosting plans to the same domain). if it is yes, then which is better add my domain as parked domain or as add-on domain. thank you all for your help, i am very appreciated.

99.99% of the times, or perhaps 100%, Unix or Linux server will only provide PHP support. ASP is for Windows server only. ASP is Windows version of server side script. In order to have both PHP and ASP (if possible) you should first go with Windows hosting plan and beg, I mean beg, for PHP installation on your hosting. This is to answer your topic title. You cannot have two hosting, meaning two different hosting accounts, for one domain. Once a domain is parked or add-on to one hosting account, it cannot be bound to another hosting account. The second hosting account will simply reject it, even if you own both hosting accounts. This is to protect your domain name. A case and point, Google parks its domain name to their server, but I come along and force Google.com to be add-on to my Xisto hosting account. It cannot be done and it should not be done. Get the point? The difference between parking and add-on domain is very little if you are going to have a sub-domain as a start. If you are registering a new hosting with a domain name, you cannot park or add-on this domain name to your own hosting account. Again, if you start a hosting account with a sub-domain name, this option my apply. If you start your hosting with a domain name you don't have this option. If you have another domain name and want to utilize one hosting account, Parking offers different result than Add-on. Add-on offers hosting multiple domain names with one hosting account. Parking a domain shares the same web pages with multiple domain names.

As far as the ASP.net is concerned you are not just limited to Windows domain and in case of Php you can choose between both Windows and Linux. If you want to run both the type of script than would you must choose Windows. However there is a catch, you cannot run one code to call another piece of code from another script language. Any calls all references must be within the same language and therefore you will end up in two types of pages where one cannot call another type. Be careful about this because the homogeneity of the website will be lost. In case you choose to have different groups of information together then you may choose the scripts separately independently for each group. It would be a better idea to gradually move the scripts from one language to another mostly module or group-wise.
