Hosting Credit And Inactivity Permission Please read.. thx

Recommended Posts

Ok, this post will be quite long, I dunno of this such of post has been made by other member or not, it?s all bout how Xisto should deal with hosting credit and inactivity in forum. For one or more reason someone can?t really connect to the internet, such as logical reasons here:1. he doesn?t have internet at home, so he only get connected while he is in school. What about if the school having long time year break holiday? Two months?2. His computer is blow up, but his father refuse to repair it until he get a better grade on next semester.3. He have a holiday on such a rural areas where even no phone connection available (for example: aceh, a province where suffered greatest pain cause of tsunami?s hit)4. His parents not allow he to connect to internet due to long bill of payment in last month.5. He got sudden stroke!! (or any great illness) and should stay at hospital for a large amount of day.6. Because of accident, he lost his eyes, so that, he has to wait for Braille computer technology and be able to read post in the forum7. Etc.The reason list of inactivity is not over yet, so, my suggestion is. To allow someone to be inactive within a period of days and this inactive-guys should fulfill the requirement to be inactive.1. He should at least have 15 post in the forum, if not, then he should post until 15 to fulfill one of requirement to be inactive2. He should post three or more in the day he request permission to be inactive3. In his inactive-permission-request post, he should mention: what is the logical reason he use to be inactive, how long he will be inactive? What contribution has he made to appeal trap 17 admin (for example: I have already post 16 times today, or I made a cool banner for trap 17)4. He should get reply of his permission request from trap 17 admin, before he is eligible to be inactive in a period of time he has requested. So he know his status right now.5. If he get sudden stroke or cancer, his friend should take over his account in Xisto and post permission for his sick-friend.And here is what Xisto should do1. Made one more subforum to provide a space for permission-request post.2. Read the permission post has been made by member whether it is reasonable enough to let him inactive.3. Limit the the day of inactive at most 3 months for any reason, however, Xisto admin should consider the reason has been made by the member. The reason such as having flu is not eligible to get 3 months permission of inactive4. reply to his permission-request-post, in the same subforum or mail directly to the member, as soon as possible and provide information on: how long he can be inactive based on consideration of the reason and the contribute he has made for Xisto.5. If the account are not active yet until the limit of the day Xisto admin allow to be inactive, then the Xisto admin should suspend or delete his account. That?s all my suggestion (not only me actually, I believe more member has been thinking about it). However, it is up to Xisto admin to agree or not. Well, it?s only my suggestion. :D:D:D:D

I dont think he will accept to this. He will tell you to go with the paid hosting package if you want your time out and stuff like that. He says its cheap. So i mean..... His script to the thing is auto matic it will suspend you by itself. Plus you gotta go post when your inactive like 8 post then you will be unssupended so i mean its not like your gonna have to rerequest hosting just post some more to get it back thats all.

The reasons for inactivity are absolutely pointless. Why did you even bother making a list? Every single person can make up some sob story about how he couldn't post.. So what? A stroke? don't be ridiculous. 1. no internet at home? get a job and buy it, goto a friends house, goto library, +many more2. need new computer? get a job and buy another one. I got a computer from ebay for $503.a. holiday? obviously holidays are planned. post more before the holiday3.b. tsunami? internet should not be your number 1 concern and also falls under the category of "*BLEEP* happens"... be glad you aren't dead.4.big bill? GET A JOB5. stroke? gimmie a break.. my fingers are getting carpal tunnel syndrome from typing this message so I should be able to get permission for inactivity6. lost eyes? is your hosting that important to you? YOU LOST YOUR EYES... you should have other things to worry about.. like how you gonna make it to the bathroom so you don't wet yourself. If the reasons you listed are considered valid reasons then I submit to Xisto that I should be allowed to be inactive for the following reasons:1. My fingers are getting carpal tunnel syndrome2. I type slow3. My eyes hurt from staring at the monitor while I am reading posts on Xisto4. My dog peed on my keyboard and now a bunch of letters don't work.5. My keyboard is full of germs because my dog peed on the keyboard and I have obsessive compulsive disorder so I can't touch the keyboard anymore.6. I'm a retard7. etc. Please allow me to stay inactive for the above reasons...Easiest way to be inactive... POST. Build up credits whenever you have time. That way, when aliens come and disable your computer... you will have time to defeat them and reactivate it.Oh, and you can always just pay the $10 for a whole YEAR of inactivity.

First of all, if you didn't have internet, you wouldn't be making or hosting a site. If you're computer blows up, most likely it won't, but IF it does, then you can't update your site anyways. If you lack internet, you wouldn't know how to make a website anyways. Most likely these things don't happen to you if you are on the internet long enough to know how to make a site. If you have medical conditions, Xisto wouldn't be the most important thing compared to your broken arm or infected eye etc. Xisto DOES NOT and WILL NOT delete members because they are inactive for a explainable reason. Xisto only suspend members who register just for the sake of it. It is fine to register a site to see and experience the greatest hosting in the world, and I don't object to that. However, there are also members who want to make a site etc. If they are serious about the site, they would choose Xisto (because Xisto is a professional free hosting site that welcomes medium-intermediate to advanced users). If you are only a beginner and only know how to make a link, there are plenty of hosts that offer the exact amount of space and bandwidth you need, and the easy to use features. In my opinion, Cpanel is not suitable for beginners so geocities would be good for small websites. If you are serious however, you will take longer in the making of your website, not to mention the time on the computer, and most likely, you will have time to post in the forums. If you are normally active, it wouldn't be a problem at all. For instance, I am pretty active, (even if I only have 180 posts) and I can take a vacation of one month! (70 credits left). Xisto does allow exceptions (we are not robots) and if he administrator knows about your problem, things can be sorted out and are flexible. The new forum is a good idea, but some people might not want to post their issues or reasons here, and that's fine. There is also a PM system (Private Messaging). I hope the faithful users understand this, and that we are also humans, and that negiotiation is always possible. If you have further issues or inquiries about this subject, or if you have any comments, feel free to reply to this forum, or PM me or one of the members you trust. Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards,

Dooga (It's not my real name to let you know :D )

'Xisto - Web Hosting' is a partner site i dont think thats Xisto so how will that solve the problem? unless you start off with them as your host but there are many paid hosts.

Easy for you to say...I connect to the internet using a Wireless (802.11b) connection, which is limited to 128kbps, I pay in advance for bandwidth to download.I don't post very much, but I do READ topics, and the fact that Xisto is a big forum, and loaded with ads (which I try to click whenever possible), I use allot of my 100MB bandwidth (which, by the way, costs 130din - 2.5$, that is pretty much where I live).Paid hosting???I can't even find a internet enabled credit card to buy a .net domain for my site at GoDaddy because my VISA Electron card cannot be used to make Internet transactions, and I don't know anyone near by with a VISA Internet card. I borrowed a Master Card - Business card, and I still can't buy my domain name because I don't know what is a "Customer Accounting Code"... Complicated? Yes, very... And because I will probably struggle for another month while trying to make a 10$ transaction, I can't even think about getting paid hosting. (Serbia, yuck!)My two suggestions:- If a user has a link to Xisto on his site, he should get more (1.3 times more, for example) hosting credits when posting.- "AWAY" credits? How about you give each user once a year the possibility to add 10 free hosting credits to his account when he urgently needs to be offline (a blown up PC, for example :-), it happens)?BTW: Get a JOB???GET REAL! I'm not over 18, and it is very difficult, even for a 20-30 year old man, to get a job here...PS: Besides all this, the hosting credits system is a great idea, and I support it... If you want regular hosting, you have to earn it!

Wireless 802.11b is not 128kbps. It is 11Mbit/s. And most internet connections are not faster than this. So your wireless is NOT a limitation OR an excuse

I absolutely do not believe that you cant get access to a VISA card for a $10 transaction. A teacher, father, mother, aunts, clergy, friends, there are so many people that have credit cards. Besides this, there are many places that take other payment options like paypal. Now, I'll admit.. I am not sure that Serbia is an accepted country for paypal.

BTW: Get a JOB???

You don't have to be 18 to get a job. I know some kids who are 11 years old that deliver newspapers. There must be restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores in serbia... go wash dishes, mop floors, or stack boxes. So it all depends on what you are willing to do.

Hmm.. Good Point. When Internet access was available in my area (YEARS AGO) it was very much damn expensive.. I did this for my emails, I connected checked the mails... Disconneced... I opened NotePAD, Typed my replies.. Connected Again.. *COPY* - *PASTE* ... Bingo! Sent emails without wasting a dollar!
My point is, You must be knowing something in web designing because of which you are using our service. Use you knowledge and experience and create a Tutorial, Post etc. Login to forums, Check out the latest topcis.. DISCONNECT, Type all those replies in notepad .. Connect and post. You can easily collect hosting woth 2-3 months in this fashion.

Paid hosting???
I can't even find a internet enabled credit card to buy a .net domain for my site at GoDaddy because my .....

I am not even forcing anyone to go for paid hosting.

I expect my members to be humans and show some level of courtesy and respect to the company who is giving them for free.. You never ASK money to your GF when you give her a gift. Nor she ever forces you to give u a gift. Its just want to give something back in return... I hope you understand.
Anyway, We havent forced any member to link back to us. Nor made this rule mandatory. We can automatically put a link back to Xisto on all the websites. We dont do it. So Dont argue over this !!

How about you post more sincerely for one month prior to going out for a vaccation. And you people talk as if you are expected to post 1000 characters for 1 credit.

As for as sandymc, your Questions have been beautifully answered by No9t9 and Dooga..
And other members, I thank you for your vote of support.

That is the best thing about Xisto we are not forced to do anything. i especially love how there is no ads that are required for the free hosting. most free hosts have a ad requirement of some sort but Xisto lets us choose for ourselves this way i appriciate it more. i thank the host on my website but i do not want links and ads all over the place. so what OpaQue is doing is probably making this one of the best free hosting services.

802.11b connections are limited to 11mbps. But, MY ISP LIMITS THE CONNECTION TO 128KBPS!!! BTW: When I use up all of my bandwidth, I use a dial up connection also, which cannot go faster than 28kbps!

http://forums.xisto.com/index.php/ is the lite version of this board which is mostly text.

Thanks! Didn't notice that...

As long as you live in Serbia, you can believe in anything. I don't know anyone with an internet enabled credit card (every bank is giving out Visa Electron and "Dina" cards that cannot be used for internet transactions, if you want an internet enabled card, you have to pay for it), so it is very difficult to buy something like that. And, yes, Paypal does not support Serbia and Montenegro.

PS: Everyone freaks out when I try to borrow a credit card from them, they are convinced that someone will find out their credit card number, and spend money like crazy... Weird...

You don't have to be 18 to get a job. I know some kids who are 11 years old that deliver newspapers. There must be restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores in Serbia... go wash dishes, mop floors, or stack boxes. So it all depends on what you are willing to do.

I repeat... I live in SERBIA!

It is extremely hard to get a job even if you are over 18. If you are under 18, no one takes you seriously, and no one is ready to pay for services done by some "lazy kids".

How about you post more sincerely for one month prior to going out for a vacation. And you people talk as if you are expected to post 1000 characters for 1 credit.

How can I post when my PC blows up? (not literally ;) )

Anyway, I guess you are right, I realized that Admins are actually ALIVE here, so a PM containing an excuse could do the trick.

Man alot of people are asing lot from probably the best free web-host on the internet. These nice people are the only ones that I have actually seen that give you the newest version of cpanel with your hosting. Also what free web host will offer youup to 20000 megs of bandwidth. Sure you may find that on some other site. But most of the time it is either not true or they have banners everywhere, Or pop-up ads. And the thing about being away from trap is not that big of a deal. Sure there are cases in which you have a computer crash or something like that happen. But when that happens you tell tem the situation and they will take care of it. I know because the same thing has happened to me while I was moving. I could not sign on to the internet becasue we had no phone. So when I was finally able to get back on to trap I told them waht the situation and I got my account back in a couple of hours. So I think that alot of you need to stop complaining about stuff that is really minor and let it go unless it is affecting you in some-way. Anways keep up the good work trap and thanks for the hosting.

you'r dial up- is better, my max dial-up speed is only 15kbps... dang!!

I live in indonesia, and the job such newspaper seller are really worthless. You only get Rp250.000/month, you know how much is it in $? only 25$. It is'nt big enough to afford your life (in case, you live alone). And i don't want to have any job just because i need money for paid hosting since i should concentrate on my study.

If the reasons you listed are considered valid reasons then I submit to Xisto that I should be allowed to be inactive for the following reasons:1. My fingers are getting carpal tunnel syndrome
2. I type slow
3. My eyes hurt from staring at the monitor while I am reading posts on Xisto
4. My dog peed on my keyboard and now a bunch of letters don't work.
5. My keyboard is full of germs because my dog peed on the keyboard and I have obsessive compulsive disorder so I can't touch the keyboard anymore.
6. I'm a retard
7. etc.

Man... i'm not joking! do you think i'm laugh?nope! you should respect other who are lower than you, financially or physically. The reasons you wrote above are tottally illogical...
1. in some rural are, in a high-poverty rate city, it is possible if there is no library with internet, no internet cafe and etc. Only in School (it's even slow dial up connect).
2. to get 30 hosting credit for 30 day of holiday in rural area? should we forced ourselves to post that many? most of the post should be meaningless or just spamming.
3. My teacher went to aceh for charity event there. And he unable to connect to internet, even it is very hard to get cellphone signal. And is tsunami arrival planned before?

4.big bill? GET A JOB

i really hate this "GET A JOB" words.... easy for ya to say, but hard for me to get the job.
Afterall, it's only my sugestion ;) , you may not agree or agree with that. but, please don't think everyone are living in the same condition with you.

My phone line supports connections up to 52-56kbps. But, a PCM device, that is used to split a digital phone line into two completely functional phone lines (only with double reduced internet speed) is attached to it.

Before my phone company (the only one in the country) came to it's senses, and converted my old analog phone line to a digital one, my connections were limited to 21kbps at night, and 12kbps at day! The connection just "snapped" after a few minutes of connectivity.

You have just proved my point. Thanks.

Anyway, I am only trying to make the best web host around get even better. Hope you understand. If you only focus on the citizens of the USA or some other developed country, you are making a great mistake. There are people outside these countries that are willing (despite their lower standard of living) to contribute to this community, have fun while they are at it, and still get the best hosting around!
