Knowledgesutra Forums Upgraded & Notice Of Temporary Downtime - Mycent [resolved]

Recommended Posts

A day or two ago, our forums were upgraded Posted Image

I am yet to get complete information on what exactly has been changed but just to confirm, the upgrade as usual will not affect your account here or the MyCENTS you earn from your posts.

With every upgrade comes the random bug here and there, everyone is working on it including OpaQue and the Xisto - Support team. But if you come across any bugs, please send an email :-

help (at) xisto (dot) com

1. A screenshot of the error

2. The link where you are seeing the error

MODULES THAT HAVE TO BE RECONFIGURED / TWEAKED

1. Shoutbox

2. BBCODES

3. Gallery / IMAGE GALLERY

ANOTHER IMPORTANT UPDATE

As you all might be aware, the forums were recently upgraded. With each upgrade comes a change in things which means that OpaQue has to make his script work according to the changes.

The recent upgrade has a lot of changes that OpaQue has to tackle which means that running the MyCent system will not be practical, earnings could be inaccurate.

Therefore, before y'all wonder why you aren't earning, I am putting up this notice.

Those who have their due dates coming up soon (within the next 3-4 days) please email help at xisto . com or PM me your domain name / billing email address.

Once the mycent system is back, all your posts since the last run will be calculated and your invoices will be adjusted :)

ANOTHER IMPORTANT UPDATE

Thanks for the notice! This should help put a lot of people at ease regarding what's going to happen with their posting.

Out of curiosity, are there any new changes we should be looking at, or is it more of a security fix? Wondering if there's features that were added, as I usually miss things like that.

This upgrade brought no downtime for me - I was able to access the forums just fine. Seems to me that either the folks at Invision are making the upgrades easier to perform or we have been getting better at keeping track of what sections of code need modification. From the modules that have to be re-configured, the shoutbox is the only thing that I miss

The upgrades usually are invisible since they mainly update the back end and patch any security flaws.. But they also come with many new features in them, however any new feature included has to be configured by the admin.

The main thing everyone must remember about the upgrades is that the code is often changed by the developer so OpaQue has to update his code according to the new one, this process takes time.

A MyCent run was done recently so members might have received a little credit but the script is not yet in full motion so please stay seated and post as much as you can :)

Got ya. I don't think most people have issues with the delays on MyCents, so long as we're kept updated as to what's going on. It's just that sometimes it feels like everything should be working properly and they aren't, so most of the posts related to MyCents are on the assumption that it's not working as it should (in its current state). As an example, because of your post we now know that it's semi-up and semi-down.

I'm glad most of you didn't have any down time, sadly, my site was down for a week nearly, but it's back and all is well for now. I hope no more changes are scheduled at least for awhile. And gosh, if you do have to make overhauls, I sure wish you would do it in the dead of winter when I have nothing better to do than stay in the house where it is warm and fuss with my computer. Not in the middle of spring when I am so busy trying to keep up with everything outside!

Well, I'm not a normal person, you didn't think my site would be normal did you? :P

I will be so glad when you get all the bugs out of this latest upgrade, move, or whatever. I just tried to update my site with new pictures and I can log in. I get this error message. "The Web server at "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/" does not appear to have Windows SharePoint Services installed."

I did submit a ticket too, so hopefully this will get fixed pretty quick.
