Hey OpaQue,

Important things you're missing is content, especially explaining the services you provide. I would also increase the text size a bit, it's too small, doesn't stand out. I would also give interesting headings/phrases instead of the usual Welcome to Xisto - Web Hosting.

Maybe something along the lines of "If it's quality you want, then you want Xisto - Web Hosting", as an introduction instead, I just made that up by looking at your slogan and thinking it needed to be incorporated somehow, you can then later repeat this line within the content explaining what you do as I just noticed you have done in the paragraph.

Now what to say about what you do just to make more content, well if it were me, I'd say things about our great quality website hosting at affordable prices, maybe state where the hosted servers are located, then explain more about what the hosting comes with and advantages, talk about the web hosting manager like CPanel or whatever it is. Talk about everything you've said on the right hand side of the screen as what every customer can expect, all here in your main introductory. This main introduction is vital, it's the decision maker in whether we like you or we don't.

Colours used on the site, well, I'm not much into the light colours, but it is making the text harder to see, but it could be due to the smallness of the text but the light blue is definitely a problem. I would not over use Flash like that, it needs to be loaded everytime I changed to a different page, non-broadband people wouldn't be too impressed. Also the News, it's not interesting, informative, etc, spruce it up or remove it I suggest, there's a lot of technical jargon that people wouldn't understand, put it in simple but interesting terms, in fact you don't have to say that at all, just talk about power, speed, etc or explain the servers in terms of fast cars, like a Red Ferrari, give them imagination or comedy.

I believe black is better than dark grey (or any grey for that matter) as text colour too but that's my personal opinion, I'm not sure who else shares that idea.

I think you should state the currency used for the pricing of the plans. Most likely USD, but it's a waste of time for customers to email you asking if this is the case, more than likely they'd either assume that or not bother, it's also helpful especially for those who maybe interested and are from different countries and there are others around the world doing just this.

I would seriously look at other competitors in this area and see what they are doing, someone I can suggest you should check out, just for the basic ideas of what you site should have is http://aotea.net.nz/ just by visiting them, you can get an understanding of what they do. Now their site may not be flash, or that exciting but they list their key things at the top, especially what sells for them is their low cost plans. They also provide a lot of information, may not be relevent but it's factual and interesting to read.

I chose pointing you to them, because they have some ideas you really need to consider.

There is quite a lot more I would suggest, but in the end, a new site would be in order as I really do think Flash is not for everyone, nor is having sound on the site.

I might provide more information about what I would have done after there's more feedback on this.

Cheers,

MC

I very much support what mastercomputers is saying. I think there is too much information crammed into one page, hence the small type. I like to think simple and get the message out, like movie trailers. Create an intro page with highlights of your best quality and features with links to the more technical information. I like to think simplicity is the key ingredient to a web page.Gif animations are friendlier than flash because they don’t need a plug-ins and will display on any browser. But I will not use too much animations or graphics to create distraction. I also like uniformity in a page design and thinks it make a site look more professional. In American business politics comparison to other competitors that you beat hands down make good reference material. ;)

Very nice site although the flash music is soothing and yet it stops after a few seconds make that longer, also where you detail the plans its all a bit crushed together maybe more spacing between them you know the table.

But please, PLEASE, don't make the text color some ugly white on black or similar. Light blue may not be catchy, but at least it doesn't burn.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

This is the second bit of 'no white on black' I've come across.. My Site uses this very scheme.. I started structuring it on a computer with an LCD monitor.. and have been using the same all along.. on an LCD screen, the resolution is very crisp and there is no glare (caused by a tube based screen) so I naturally found the layout very eye catching.. I went down yesterday to a friend's place to see what my site would look like on a regular monitor.. and WHAM.. it hit me.. non - lcd monitors diffuse light, so the white text on black really hurts the eye...

I'm starting a complete rework on my site because of this, as of today.. but unfortunately, this is going to take a bit of a while what with me hunting for a job too..

:-) Cheers.. R.A.

Hello! I disagree however with the slogan "If it's quality you want, then you want Xisto - Web Hosting", because it is promoting that Xisto isn't the quality you can expect and that to get free hosting, you want Xisto - Web Hosting, and that's not what we want. A slogan like "If posting is not your game, play Xisto - Web Hosting instead! Get hosting for only 9.95$!" or something like that. Because then it's not saying that Xisto or Xisto are lower quality then Xisto - Web Hosting. Also, I would like to pronouce, that Xisto - Web Hosting is doing great. However, there are room for improvement. The fact that there are a lot of graphics is good, but it also makes the site a very busy place. They say, that when in a quiet place is suddenly quiet, thena sudden loud sound is made, it is very impacting. Same goes to websites. If a busy place, is suddenly filled by the dead void of silence and blankness, then you see the impacting words in the site. Moreover, some more pursuasive text can be put on the homepage, for example, "If you want a server like hosting, Xisto - Web Hosting is the right choice for you" as a big quote or testemonial on the sidebar. From now I see the site has a great layout, great flash intro, great content... in fact, too much. There are too many things on the site that instead of reading one section, I don't even read it at all. Just like this post. If you read this far, congradulations.

BUT I BET YOU READ THIS SENTENCE WITHOUT DOUBT.

See? A big impacting message is always separated from the other content. Also, questions will be good. Here's mine:

"So you open up a company... now what? How do you get sales? That's excacly what we're for. We can help you get sales, with the most popular way ever....

Hosting your site.

Xisto - Web Hosting, a website of blah blah blah like you've never seen before. Our blah blah blah is the blah blah

Etc."

I know, I haven't thought up a good one yet, but some questions could be helpful.

Also, another thing is live help. I know that on the free hosting sites, you don't require live help because you already have a forum with perfecto people to respond to questions. What about the Xisto - Web Hosting? You really don't expect to put a forum up do you? That's why live help will actually help not only your vistors, but you. Turn your visitors into sales with the power of live help, and see what page your visitors visit the most, with the monitoring feature.

All that equals the best site ever.

hey, well: Xisto & Xisto ARE lower quality, which is only normal.off course, you also have a lot of space & bandwith, but you have to share the same line & server with a lot more other clients. so the server is more stressed, the line more occupied and thus slower.if you want really good & reliable hosting, you have to pay for it, that's it. then you have the right to complain too. i've had some problems with Xisto, but hey, it's a free service and it's as good as it gets for free, so i'm quite happy. however, i'll probably get myself paid hosting. alas, not on computing, but a belgian or dutch company as that's where i live. i think you'll understand the reasons as the price is about the same. support in my language and the guys are awake at the same time as i am, while opaque lives in the us is and wakes up when i have lunch haha, the lazy *bottom*! hehe.

I don't think that you're being really friendly saying "the lazy *bottom*" (even though I'm not sure who you're talking about)

It seems to me that the author may not be a native English speaker. Minor inconsistancies in the grammer throws off the pace of the reader. Most people wouldn't even be conscience of the flaws but an unconscience awareness could be a real turn off for some people.I could be mistaken, or perhapes a little grammer check may be needed.I agree that the page seems to be too cluttered.I suggest that you actively advertise the free hosting on the paid hosting site and vise versa. Perhapes the interest will cause some one to try your free service prior to buy your other service. There needs to be a bigger difference between plans. Just storage and BW differences will make large clients feel that they are underapprecieted. People need to be made to feel special.I know that certain services are free but should be by request only.Perl, PHP, MySQL are common freebies but use server resources. Hold some things back just for the big clients. If the little guy wants it, just give it to him. By the way, if the customer will only pay $9.95/yr for a host, probably can't afford microsoft frontpage. I don't know for sure as I don't use FrontPage. Why offer unlimited Parked Domains, MYSQL Databases, Sub-Domains. Throw them in on Business packages but charge a minimal fee for more than one otherwise. You seem to be offering BMW's to everyone at varying prices. good luckvujsa

Nice point. I had thought about it. But then, Since all the plans have been set and there are already more than 50 clients, I dont know If I should reduce the lower plans. Also, There are hundreds of other companies who are giving the same amount of features (unlimited) for low prices. Some are even lower than mine. Anyway, I will think about this.As for the language, Can you please PM me any particular corrections. :)

Hey, just a thought.Perhapes offering a small discount to active forum members would boost your paid hosting numbers.Just a small incentive to leave the free hosting and start paying for hosting but require hosting credits from forum posts. Of course the offer would have to be for a better package that the standard free package.I'll start a poll and see what the membership thinks.happy administrating, :) vujsa
